Barbershop Uncut Stories
Barbershop Uncut Stories is a compelling theatre production based on real lived experiences, set in a familiar local barbershop where everyday conversations about football, family and relationships reveal powerful truths about health, masculinity and the importance of speaking up.
Blending humour, warmth and authentic storytelling, the play explores prostate cancer, which affects 1 in 4 Black men, and challenges the stigma, fear and mistrust that often prevent vital conversations.
Following the performance, audiences are invited to join a discussion with healthcare professionals and community voices to explore the themes further and learn more about cancer awareness and early diagnosis.
Created by Lorna Jones, Director of C & Hair CIC, written and directed by BAFTA-winning Rochelle Newman, and produced by New Duke Films, this powerful Creative Health production is delivered in partnership with the NHS Thames Valley Cancer Alliance.
