What do you get when you ask two Reading boys to plan the perfect day out? Plenty of nostalgia, a few surprising recommendations… and, of course, a trip to Reading Rep Theatre.

As schools break up and families start planning summer adventures, many of us look further afield for things to do. But Reading Rep’s Executive Director Nick Thompson and Founding Artistic Director Paul Stacey think there’s plenty to rediscover right here on our doorstep.

Both born and raised in Reading, the pair have watched the town change over the decades. Before leading Reading’s only professional producing theatre, they were simply two local lads exploring parks, cycling around the town and finding their favourite places to spend time.

Now they’re revisiting those memories in a new video, sharing stories from growing up in Reading. And naturally, no perfect itinerary would be complete without a visit to Reading Rep Theatre.

From award-winning productions made right here in Reading to youth theatre, community events and behind-the-scenes opportunities, Reading Rep continues to prove that brilliant theatre doesn’t have to mean travelling to the West End.
