A New Podcast

Today we will release the first episode of our brand new podcast, ‘Pre-show Drinks’ available to listen to here on Acast.

In this first episode, get to know a bit more about the team behind Reading Rep and how it came to be what it is today. Find out how we used to work out of the 50-seat Reading College studio, and how the idea for the brand new and exciting building was born!

This podcast is accessible to those who are hard of hearing or who have difficulty with listening to recorded audio. The entire transcipt is avaible to view here, and links will also will be available on our social media channels.

August Update!

August was a great month for us at Reading Rep!

The new theatre build has seen some great improvements this month, and we finally have a full floor as a foundation for our seating and stage! The auditorium will feature at least 170 raked seats, some of which will be retractable to allow for a greater rehearsal space. These seats are the next big thing to happen in the space, and we should expect to see the basic scaffolding in the next few weeks! Keep your eyes peeled on our social media and pinterest gallery for all the latest photos!

The Build Begins…

The new Reading Rep Theatre build has begun and we couldn’t be more excited to share our progress! Reading Councillor for Culture, Heritage and Recreation, Karen Rowland, joined us on site to break ground and kick things off. The new theatre is taking over the site of a beautiful old Salvation Army building built in 1927 on King’s road. We will be opening the theatre in Spring 2021. You can read more about our first step in this journey here!

We’ve reached our target!

We are thrilled to announce that we have reached our fundraising target of £500,000 ahead of our new theatre build. We are so grateful to all the support from our funders and members of the public who made such generous contributions! You can read more in this article in What’s On Stage here and the Reading Chronicle here!

Reading Rep is getting a new Theatre!

We are so thrilled to announce our plans for a new theatre, arts centre and cultural hub for our home in Reading! After Nearly 7 years in our little 60-seat-capacity ‘Black Box’ studio we are upgrading to a fanstic space on King’s Road. It will have the capacity for 158 seats, rehearsal and dressing room areas, and a foyer with a bar!
