Reading Rep Talks: Climate Activism in Reading

On March 22, 2022, four young climate activists will meet at Reading Rep Theatre for a panel discussion on the role of youth and community in combating the global climate crisis. The panel discussion will be chaired by Dr Holly Ayres, (postdoctoral research assistant Polar Climate, Sea ice, Southern Ocean) at the University of Reading.

Panellists are made up of four inspirational young climate activists from Reading School.

Alby the Penguin Saves the World, written and directed by Helen Eastman, centres on a penguin named Alby, whose home in the South Pole is melting away due to climate change. The show engages children as young as 3 years old, and so the panel discussion will focus on the hopefully positive outcome of engaging children so young on these global issues.

This event is part of a series of panel talks and events in connection to Reading Rep’s artistic programme. The live event will also be filmed, and placed on Reading Rep’s YouTube channel.
